Arsenal's Togolese born striker Emmanuel Adebayor hugs his mother as he attends a ceremony to receive the 2007 BBC African Footballer of the Year trophy in the capital Lome. Strange that in a year of the African Nations Cup which featured some awesome shooting (and missing) that a player who was not there should win it ahead of Drogba, Essien, Eto' etc but African politics are often difficult to comprehend. Emmanuel's mum though deserves an award for best matching hat and dress and best knitted tablecloth
